The browser was founded in 2016 by Brendan Eich, the creator of JavaScript and the co-founder of Mozilla Firefox. The company is based in San Francisco, California and has a global team of over 100 employees.

The main mission of Brave Browser is to create a better, more efficient and fairer digital advertising model. The company aims to give control back to the users by blocking intrusive ads.
